MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT

Greater Miami is rich in culture, but perhaps its most revered form of entertainment is music.

Florida Grand Opera
1200 Coral Way, Miami
(305) 854-1643

Since 1941, South Florida's leading opera company has been producing five grand operas per year. Featuring the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra, the series brings stars like Luciano Pavarotti to Miami. Traditional European music is sung in its original language and English subtitles are projected above the stage. The Florida Grand Opera also hosts educational programs and has a young artists training program.

Florida Philharmonic Orchestra
234 University Dr., Coral Gables
(305) 476-1234

South Florida's resident professional orchestra performs 300 concerts a year. The repertoire is often quite innovative. It presents the Peter Nero and Pops at the Philharmonic series.

Miami Chamber Symphony
5690 Kendall Dr., Miami
(305) 858-3500

The symphony performs subscription series concerts at Gusman Concert Hall on the University of Miami campus featuring world-class soloists.

Miami Symphony Orchestra
6915 Red, Rd., Suite 219, Coral Gables
(305) 667-0015

This orchestra plays symphonic and lyric music of Spain and Latin America, as well as the music of European and American composers.

New World Symphony
541 Lincoln Rd., Miami Beach
(305) 673-3331

The local performance season includes six of full-orchestra concerts, chamber music, and the new South Beach Sound series. Concerts are broadcast live via speaker over the Lincoln Road Mall.
