GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUBS

Greater Miami and the Beaches may be considered one of the nation’s most popular golfing destinations. A golf resort for every style is sure to be found here, many of which are known worldwide for their championship golf course(s). Along with many country club courses and freestanding courses are some of the most prestigious golf resorts in the country. Some of Miami’s greatest courses are as follows: 

The Biltmore Golf Club at The Biltmore Hotel was built in 1925 by Donald Ross, one of America’s most sought-after course architects at the time. With rooms overlooking the 18-hole, par-71 championship course, the elegant hotel and course is a favorite among many, from beginners to pros. 

Players of every skill level will find excitement at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa’s golf facilities. Bringing the PGA Tour to Greater Miami in 1960 was Alfred L. Kaskel, who built the complex’s famed Blue Monster Course, home to the annual Doral-Ryder Open, as well as four additional championship courses. The Doral also has an excellent golf instruction program – the Jim McLean Golf School.  

Golfers can check out the grounds of Miami Dolphins’ famous head coach Don Shula at Shula’s Hotel & Golf Club. The complex features an 18-hole championship course, a lighted par-3 executive course and a lighted driving range. The hotel books rooms throughout the year for many professional sports teams and celebrities. 

On a secluded island, accessible only by private ferry, yacht, seaplane or helicopter, is The Links at The Fisher Island Club.  At The Links guests can enjoy a round of golf on a seaside, nine-hole championship course designed by golf architect P.B. Dye.

World-class sports facilities reign at the Turnberry Isle Resort & Club, including two championship courses designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., and recently renovated to the exacting standards of the legend. With the par-70 North Course and par-72 South Course, both with 18 holes, golf enthusiasts will enjoy matching their skills or improving their swing.
