BIKING

One of the more popular locations for bicycling is Miami-Dade County, mainly for its scenery and level landscape. Several bike shops, as well as the Miami-Dade County Bicycle Coordinator (305/ 375-1647) offer plenty of information about biking in this area. Moreover, they usually provide a color-coded map of the area’s best biking routes, parks and more, making for an easy day of two-wheeling. 

A casual bike ride excursion can be had with Adventura Riders (305/ 937-4463), offering customers a different 20-mile-or-so route each week. Information on group rides can be obtained through Everglades Bicycle Club (305/ 598-3998). If you’re looking to bike through Key Biscayne, pick up maps and info at Mangrove Cycles (305/ 361-5555). Other great bicycling locations include, Bill Braggs Cape Florida State Recreation Area on Key Biscayne Island; Matheson Hammock Park in Coral Gables (305/ 665-5475); and for experienced rough-terrain bikers, visit Oleta River State Recreation Area in North Miami (305/ 919-1846).
